Roni Sufri, from Syria

Roni Sufri.jpg

Roni Sufi is a resident of a refugee camp in Greece. He fled Syria with his wife and three children after an attack that killed five of his relatives.

He wrote this poem about "home":

"War brings all that is bad, including asylum and refuge.
It forces you from one place to another, like a tree uprooting from the ground.
It forces you to leave behind the memory of places, memories of childhood.
and migrate to a strange land to forcibly speak a new language.
The circle of life feeds on you and your memories,
in the sense that home is living deep inside you
and not the other way around."
